Combined Cycle Power Plant Design

The project consists of the engineering, design, and construction of a 120 megawatt combined cycle power plant located on a Greenfield site seven miles outside of Great Falls, Montana. 

Upon completion, the project will consist of two 40 megawatt combustion turbine generators, one 40 megawatt steam turbine generator, and associated power generation-related equipment and systems.  The plant is connected to power grid by way of a new 4.6-mile 230 kV transmission line.  A new 19-mile natural gas supply line provides fuel for the facility.

The project was designed to be built in two phases.  Phase 1 consisted of a 40 megawatt simple cycle natural gas-fired combustion turbine generator, one natural gas compressor, the new natural gas pipeline, the new 230 kV transmission line, and supporting balance-of-plant systems and equipment.  Phase 2 will consist of one additional natural gas-fired combustion turbine generator, two additional natural gas compressors, two heat recovery steam generators, a 40 megawatt steam turbine, and supporting balance-of-plant systems and equipment.

Stanley Consultants was responsible for cost estimating, permitting support, financing support, community relations support, detailed engineering, design, procurement, and construction management services for this power plant project.  In addition, Stanley Consultants provided on-site commissioning and start-up support services.
