Traffic Flow and Pedestrian Safety Key in LaSalle Drive Reconfiguration Project
Stanley Consultants provided Phase III construction engineering services to the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) for the construction of the LaSalle Drive Reconfiguration Project. Stanley Consultants' staff included a Resident Engineer and Construction Inspectors. Rheo Group, P.C. supplied a Documentation Engineer and Omega & Associates, Inc. provided additional construction inspection. Work was performed per the CDOT Consultant Construction Engineer (CCE) Procedural Guidelines.
The construction project included the reconstruction/improvement of LaSalle Drive from Clark Street east to the northbound Lake Shore Drive entrance/exit ramps including bridge superstructure reconstruction for two pedestrian underpasses, traffic signal modernizations, roadway reconstruction, new ramp construction, intersection realignment, pedestrian underpass enhancements, a landscaped median along LaSalle Drive, as well as ornamental roadway lighting.
Stanley Consultants was able to save the City $2.1 million over the course of the project by keeping the construction costs of the LaSalle Drive Reconfiguration 21% below the engineer's estimate.
